I had a student once who could solve them in a mater of several seconds. Blew my mind.

They are sick, a friends brother, could solve it blindfolded. I suppose the sequence is something that you memorize and in several steps no matter where are the colors it will be done.

It probably was speedcubing . Its the fastest way to solve it, only once you memorize the cube itself, and (the hardest part) knowing where each piece will go once you move/relocate it.

I learned to solve the thing back in the day by using a book (books are those things they had before the Internet). Memorized all the moves, got fairly proficient at it. Then I put it down for 30 years. I found the book again and got my cube out, and was amazed at how much muscle memory remained after all those years. I managed to finish it again a few times, but the mania from my teenage years is long gone.
